Youngster Vladimir Weiss played the full ninety-minutes earlier today as Slovakia (managed by his father, Vladimir Sr) allowed a last gasp equaliser from minnows New Zealand and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The Kiwi's equaliser was scored by Winston Reid - a defender who plies his trade with one time UEFA Cup opponents FC Midjtylland - and is a blow to Slovakian hopes of qualifying out of the group with fixtures against Paraguay and Italy to come.
Weiss looked lively on occasion, managing to create a couple of opportunities which couldn't be converted but does look to be a key part of the side even given his tender age.
He spent time on loan at Bolton over the second half of the past season without getting a great deal of opportunity and I'm certain that there will be plenty of interest in him for the 2010/11 season which will leave Roberto Mancini with a decision over whether to keep him at the club or farm him out to a side where he may perhaps get more playing time.
