UPDATE: Manchester City have beaten Liverpool 3-0 behind a goal from Gareth Barry and a brace from Carlos Tevez. James Milner picked up an assist in what was a completely dominating performance. Stay tuned for a match report!
Manchester City kick off their home campaign against Liverpool today at 2:55 PM EST on ESPN2. Both have played once and drawn once. Be sure and read your match day preview, catch up on the morning's City reading, and join us in the comments below for what should be a great game.

News coming in via Twitter now that Mario Balotelli is not even on the bench for tonight’s game – he was unable to complete training yesterday due to the knee injury sustained in Romania.

Interested to see what kind of support he can receive up top today. Let’s see if Milner can make a difference in the midfield.
I’m not convinced he can, because I thought that it’d take Silva AND Milner to make a real difference. But we’ll see. At least Mancini included Johnson instead of SWP.

You guys think city are going to sell anyone by the end of transfer market with that huge bench? or even loaned out?
If not now, then definitely in January. Adebayor is a guy who seems destined to leave but is waiting for January. I am interested to see what they are going to do with the keeper situation as well.
With the amount of game they have to play and injuries I’m hoping they wind a way to keep Givin and Adebayor happy. I’d much rather lose Jo and/or Santa Cruz to transfers.

Roque for sure isn’t hanging around.
Rooting for Jose Casilla to take his K- and GB-inducing skills to the majors and join his brother.
Great first half. Best possession I’ve seen in a long time by a City club against a top flight opponent. I loved the overlapping runs and their patienece with the ball. Johnson and Milner looked great. I still don’t like Tevez alone up top. He winds up being another central midfielder in the formation.

If Tevez and Balotelli build good chemistry together they would be very good attacking duo…lots of goals, but with Ibrahimovic and Milito he didn’t really work well especially Ibra lots of bad passes and they even shouted at each other a couple of times in a match. With Eto’o he had nice chemistry and was fun to watch.
I thought he’s worked fine with Adebayor when they’ve been in together. I agree that if Balotelli and he get some chemistry going they will be dangerous. I’m sure that is Mancini’s preference. I just wish he’d look to Adebayor as the guy who can fill in when one of his strikers is out.

Fabulous, fabulous performance from City today. Adam Johnson and James Milner have been dynamite. No mistakes at all from Y. Toure or de Jong. Joe Hart with some more heroism. Hell, even Micah looks good.
The ball possession has been outstanding, too. Nothing to complain about from me.

I’m fine letting him rest the knee and playing Adebayor & Jo. Europa title would be nice, but this season is all about qualifying for CL and taking a run at unseating Chelsea.
