Our history against Everton in the League though is pretty evenly balanced with us on 59 wins, them on 60. Add together the 39 draws and tonights game sees the 158th running of the fixture. Everton were recently viewed as Manchester City's boogie team in games where it seemed we couldn't buy a goal! Earlier on last season we did finally down Moyes men 2-0 and will hope to see a similar scoreline for us Saturday to continue to turn that around, although we did fall to a 1-0 defeat in the return game.

Luckily we are at the Etihad where our record has been nothing short of fantastic. Our last win at Goodison Park was just under three seasons ago and goals from our first big money gift from Al-Mulbarak, Robinho and Superman Stephen Ireland scored, securing the points that day. In contrast it was a 3-1 defeat on the last game of the 1949-50 season against Everton that sent us down. Everton were already safe and had nothing to play for but still beat us. In truth though other results that day meant that we'd have gone down even if we had won.

Frank Swift and Joe Corrigan, two of City's greatest goalkeepers got their final clean sheets between the posts at City in games against Everton and we have twice had players score four goalsin the single fixture against the Merseysiders. Browell scored all of City's four in a 4-4 draw back in 1925 and Holford scored all the goals in a 4-0 win thirteen years earlier.

Manchester City have beaten Everton by very handsome scores over the years. In our first season at the CoMS we beat Everton 5-1 with Paulo Wancope scoring his last two goals for us in that game. On Dec 9th 2000 we beat Everton 5-0 in our first season back in the Premier League under Joe Royle only to be relegated at the end of the season.

The 1957-58 season saw the two league games have a combined score of 11-4 to City, which is only one goal short of the 1928-29 season. That season the combined score of both League games was 11-3. But it hasn't always been City handing out the hammering, 1914 saw us lose 4-1 and then 9 years later we suffered a 6-1 defeat. Both games were away from home but the worst was on September 3rd 1906. In that game the single City goal wasn't even a consolation against the nine that Everton scored.
