England began their Group D campaign with a 1-1 draw against France last night in Donetsk, with two City players - Joleon Lescott and Samir Nasri - grabbing the goals.
England I'm sure will view it as a point well earned (in what - on paper - was their toughest group game) but the Scoring Chance Index numbers highlight plenty of concern (at both ends) for them moving forward.
As well as Lescott and Nasri, fellow Blues Joe Hart and James Milner featured. Hart, despite a couple of shaky moments during the first half, made a couple of excellent saves whilst Milner - selected largely for his industry - worked hard but will rue an early missed opportunity when he hit wide from a tight angle after rounding Hugo Lloris.
In the group's other game, Ukraine came from a goal down to defeat Sweden (with former Blue Andreas Isaakson in goal) 2-1. The group's next fixtures are on Friday with England facing Sweden and France playing Ukraine.
