Euro 2012: de Jong and Holland on the brink

Stay connected for news and updates

City's Nigel de Jong was involved in action last night, playing the full ninety minutes as Holland were defeated 2-1 by Germany; failing to complete the comeback which left them bottom of Group B.

de Jong played the full ninety minutes with fellow midfielder Mark van Bommel the man sacrificed as the Dutch looked to claw back a two-goal half time deficit. de Jong had 73 touches, attempted 72 passes completing 93% and was 3/3 on long balls. He also made two tackles, two clearances and one interception.

Holland now have to beat Portugal in their final game and hope Germany beat Denmark, then hoping that they win the goal differential tie-breaker.
