David Silva again had a good night as Ireland were brushed aside 4-0 by Spain last night. Silva, relatively quiet (comparatively speaking) during the first-half was far more involved after the break and both scored and got two assists as Spain moved atop Group C. Silva also made four key passes during the game. With his performance, Silva is now the top ranked Spanish player.

It was a bad night for former City-player's Richard Dunne and Shay Given, both culpable of Fernando Torres's opening goal. The result means that Spain need only a point from their final group game against Croatia to progress whilst Ireland are the first side to exit the tournament.

Mario Balotelli and Italy endured another frustrating evening however as for the second consecutive game they took the lead only to be pegged back and forced to settle for a point. Balotelli - who had just one of five shots on target - was once again substituted and with Italy facing a must win game (and hoping the other result goes their way) he may well now lose his starting spot.
