Euro 2012: Germany v Italy Scoring Chance Index

Stay connected for news and updates

Contrasting the Spain v Portugal semi-final last nights Italy v Germany match-up provided plenty of scoring chances, with Germany - despite losing the game - out-chancing Italy 13-7.

At half-time, the German were ahead 5-4 (but 2-0 down through Mario Balotelli's brace) and converted their possession into chances in the second half but the half-time deficit was too much too claw back with Gigi Buffon (leading the way with +4) and his defence standing firm.

Crucially for Germany their much-vaunted defence crumbled in the first half, with multiple errors (notably Holger Badstuber) being recorded on both goals, whilst the pair of Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira - so profilic in earlier games - were just +2 apiece.

Italy were helped by contributions across the board; of course from their impressive front pairing of Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano but also through Claudio Maqrchisio +4 and Ricardo Montiolivo +3.
