It's Monday, I busted my knee playing yesterday and coming down with something so perfect time to write up a recap on what happened on Sunday.
The game started off OK for City. We didn't completely dominate but we had a couple chances, one of which was created by Tevez and he barely missed a curving shot that was taken parallel to the goal post, it sailed by both the GK and defender only to take an unlucky bounce off the opposite goal post.
Liverpool were at first still assimilating to the possession style football Rodgers wants them to play and it was evident early on. However as the game progressed Liverpool began to dominate the first half. Kolarov and Zabaleta got caught up with one another which allowed Liverpools Skrtel to head it in to take a 1-0 lead over City.
City wouldn't score until the 62nd minute, Mancini took out Milner, Nasri and Mario and put in Silva, Rodwell and Dzeko. Yaya Toure was moved forward and it payed off in the 62nd as he scored the equalizing goal.
It didn't last long as Suarez slotted a spot kick past Hart. It looked as if City would lose as they did not play extremely well throughout the game until Skrtel was pressured by Dzeko to pass the ball backwards where a waiting Tevez picked it off and equalized the game 2-2.
Despite the statistics it seemed a very sloppy game. Possession and passing looked weak, chances missed and the defense was at times non-existent especially with Kolo Toure. We are lucky to get away with a point regardless of what Mancini says.
City Flop Player of the Match: That's a hard one, it would have to be between Kolo and Mario. I would have to go with Mario because at least Kolo gave a lot of effort on the pitch.
City Player of the Match: Yaya Toure. When he was moved forward the entire game shifted. Liverpool had to adjust to his height while keeping on eye on Tevez.
